Jim started as a service technician at Smithereen in January of 1988. Since then he has worked as a salesman, service manager and from 1995 to 2005 he was Smithereen’s trainer. He maintains pest management certification in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. Jim still provides training for new employees in safety and customer service. He also represents Smithereen as an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) speaker to culinary students, building engineers in the Chicago Public School system, and other interested groups or organizations.

Jim took part in establishing Smithereen’s School IPM Program and still coordinates and monitors the effectiveness of that important program. Jim edits and publishes What’s Buzzing, Smithereen’s quarterly employee newsletter and five of his articles have been published in Pest Control Magazine, a national trade journal. He also serves on the board of the Greater Chicago Pest Management Alliance, a regional association of pest management professionals, and he plans three training seminars each year for that organization.
