Loyola University has announced Smithereen Pest Management as its winner of the 2007 Family Business of the year award. This award recognizes superior Illinois-based family businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to both business and family. This year's award drew 425 nominations in five different categories based on business size. Smithereen was selected as the winner in the medium business size category (businesses with 50 to 250 employees). As a winner of the award Smithereen has demonstrated positive family business linkage, multi-generational family involvement, contributions to industry and community, and innovative business practices and strategies.
