Rodney joins Smithereen following a successful 20 year career in facility management.
Rodney enjoyed the unique experience of managing public facilities for 18 of those years. Rodney started as an event coordinator at Kemper Arena. From there he worked for the Cleveland Indians and was an integral part of opening Jacobs Field and oversaw their guest service program.
Prior to joining Smithereen, Rodney worked for the Kansas City Royals for 13 years. As Director of Stadium Operations, Rodney was responsible for pest management, capital improvement projects, repairs, cleaning operations, 24 hour security and mail services. In addition, Rodney worked as Manager of Stadium Operations with the Royals overseeing the event staff including tollgate attendants, traffic and parkers, security, off-duty Kansas City Missouri Police, ushers and guest service program.
Rodney brings an extensive background in leadership, project management, problem resolution and commitment to service.
Rodney earned a bachelor's degree from Pittsburg State University and a master's degree from Wichita State University. Rodney is currently working to complete his registered pest control technician license in Kansas as well as Missouri.
Rodney is actively involved in the community as a board member of the Crime Stoppers Tips Hotline and volunteer at Harvesters Food Network and Christmas in October.
