Sara Joined Smithereen Pest Management Services in the Spring of 2008 as Technical Director and Corporate Training Manager.

Sara finished the University of Illinois with a B.A. in Biology and M.A. in Entomology; her focus was the invasive Argentine Ant. While in school, Sara had a variety of jobs and research positions so she could explore different venues in science. Sara did multiple projects studying ant behavior and physiology, worked as a research Bee Keeper, helped catalog and update the insect collection at the Illinois Natural History Survey, and interned at the Cincinnati Zoo Insect House. She also was the Treasurer and President of the Entomology Graduate Student Association.

While a graduate student Sara held Teaching Assistant positions in Entomology and Biology departments, where she often helped design laboratory exercises. She was awarded many teaching honors including the Dupont Award for Teaching Excellence in Entomology.

Her love of teaching and science have been great assets to the training program at Smithereen as well as the advancement of the service department. She currently holds many IDPH certifications and is a member of Entomological Society of America and International Union for the Study of Social Insects.

Sara loves to collect ants, bee keep, play with her cats, and spend time with her loved ones.
